1dr Acres Farm

Gylda is a mare that I produced from my heart horse, Short Creek’s Amber, and by the beautiful and fancy stallion Valea’s Vesle. Both parents were imported from Canada.

Gylda is a dark brown dun that measures 14.0 hands with 21.5 cm cannon circumference. She’s a drafty-built mare, like her mother, that moves beautifully, like her sire, and she produces wonderful foals.

Gylda is one of the full sister mares that we have in our herd. Bekke is her full sister.

Amber with baby Gylda nursing. Gylda’s super thick mane comes from her mother, and Gylda’s long forelock come from both parents.

I see a lot of Amber’s structure in her daughter Gylda, and in Gylda’s foals. This is Amber with baby Gylda.

The Amish trainer was SO impressed with them. He has Haflingers and he said that these two mares could outpull his Haflingers any day, and the Fjords worked as hard and long as mules. These girls were very pregnant during training.

Gylda and Kate gave birth 10 days and 12 days after these videos, when they were back home from training.

Gylda loves interacting with people, and especially with children. Our niece was a bit scared of the horses, and Gylda helped her realize that our horses are sweet, kind and calm creatures.

Gylda’s 2026 filly, 1dr Junia, is sired by Mathis, and she inherited the dark brown dun body color of Gylda, and the awesome hip and neck structure of both parents, a beautiful head, plus she carries grey and red (Aa Ee DD). She is one I would keep for a future broodmare if Hubby would allow me to keep more than 2 this year.

Gylda’s foals have such nice structure. We’ve bred her to Hunter many times because that combo frequently produces really nice foals.
