Bekke is a mare I produced from my heart horse, Short Creek’s Amber, and sired by Valea’s Vesle. Bekke’s pedigree is here. Both parents were imported from Canada and were outstanding Fjords that produced many high quality offspring for us. Bekke is the smallest mare in our herd, at 13.3 hands and medium bone, she’s trained to ride and drive, and has been an outstanding broodmare here.

We have retained Bekke’s daughter, 1dr Ilsa, a white dun mare sired by Kjor Hunter (just under 14.2 hands). Ilsa is 3 years old in this photo of her to the left of Bekke. Ilsa won’t mature as tall as Hunter, but should mature right between her parents heights, and with heavier bone from Hunter.

We have also retained Bekke’s full sister, 1dr Gylda as a broodmare, and Gylda’s daughter by Hunter, 1dr Febra.

Our fancy brown dun stallion, 1dr Ragnvald, is paternal half brother to Bekke and Gylda, sired by Valea’s Vesle. We have retained 2 of Ragnvald’s daughters as broodmares (1dr Greta and 1dr Moena), plus 2 grandfoals (1dr Sunnev and 1dr Orven). This family line are wonderful Fjords!

Bekke always carries her foals WIDE. It typically looks like she will explode, people often speculate that she is carrying twins (never has), and one wonders how she’s able to give birth to her big foals. She’s never had a birthing issue and has produced a foal every year that she’s been bred.

Bekke’s beautiful head and profuse hair, plus attractive balance of body catch the eye. Her sire and dam both had loads of forelock and she inherited the same.

Bekke is feminine and very soundly built.

We are so impressed with Bekke’s foals every year. They’re beautiful, typie, a nice combo of their parents and cherished by their owners.

One thing we can count on from Bekke’s foals is a beautiful head. This is her filly, 1dr Ellisif, by SOS Rurik.
