- Temperament: This filly is energetic, smart, and seeks attention. She is happy to do what’s asked of her and enjoys time with people who are comfortable handling average horses. She’s not as naturally calm as many of our Fjords, but she’s not a highly reactive type either.
- Additional attributes: Sylvi has medium bone and is going to be a gorgeous performance mare that can produce all the Fjord colors in her offspring if used for breeding. She has a beautiful hip, head, neck, body balance, legs and hooves, and movement. Her sire and dam have outstanding work ethics and she has the same. She will have a thick long forelock like both of her parents. She has 2 Njal spots on each cheek, which is one of the desirable primitive marks in the breed standard. She will make an outstanding broodmare that can be used for versatile disciplines. We have her mother Gylda and Sylvi’s half sister Febra as part of our mare herd. We also have Gylda’s full sister Bekke, and Bekke’s daughter Ilsa in the mare herd. Ragnvald is Sylvi’s paternal uncle (paternal brother to Gylda and Bekke).
- Training: Sylvi is easy to catch, stands tied, picks up feet loose in the pasture, enjoys her mane trimming and grooming, she loads in trailers and has been trailered 4 times. Watch a video of Sylvi being handled and unloading here

Bekke (left) is full sister to Gylda (right) and their 2025 foals are at their side here. These two mares are daughters of my heart horse Short Creek’s Amber, and sired by Valea’s Vesle. Both Amber and Vesle were imported from Canada.
6/23/25 Gylda and Sylvi uphill of Koryn and Jahn, with the bucks and rams that share their grazing paddocks following. Raising foals with small ruminants underfoot produces horses that are far less likely to kick at things around their legs.
