  • Double C Nora

    Nora is a 14.0 hand drafty mare with 21 cm cannon bones (8.3″), and has been an outstanding broodmare in our herd for years. We have retained a lot of her relatives.

    We have a lot of Nora’s family lines in our herd.

    • Nora’s dam, Alma, was a broodmare here before she became a therapeutic services horse, and we have her daughters Vilde and Sejline in the herd (half sisters to Nora).
    • We have 2 daughters of Nora as broodmares in our herd: Lucy and Greta.
    • We have Lucy’s daughter Raisa, Raisa’s daughters Viska and Vindkast, and Vindkast’s daughter Arva.
    • We have Greta’s son Orven, and her daughter Sunnev.

    Nora’s structure and movement is beautiful, and she passes this along to her foals.

    Forelock envy. This mare has SO much hair!

    I like mares with wide chests and matching hind width, and Nora definitely checks those boxes!

    Nora is a dark brown dun with nice dark legs and the black in her mane doesn’t sunbleach easily.

    I prefer that my Fjords all have the classic flat-top arched mohawk cut that is tradition for the breed in Norway. Since Nora has SO much hair, I let it grow for 3 years for an art project (making brushes), and then have maintained it as the classic cut between harvests.

    Fjord that don’t have fallen crests, yet long manes, will have the mane split over the top of the neck, rather than lay all to one side (indication of crest has fallen). Nora obviously doesn’t have a fallen crest.

    Nora, with her son Hafsteinn, who is a stallion these days, producing more great offspring from this prolific and high quality line of Fjords.
